The Traditional Boat Show in Den Helder, Netherlands, returns this year on 7-9 November. The three-day show will feature a small boat hall, boatbuilders, sailmakers and boat designers. This part of the boat show will be held under the aegis of ‘Natuurlijk Varen’, an organisation which promotes sailing or rowing a boat without using an engine.

Voyaging is a central theme this year and all boats at the show have a story to tell about their construction, sailing adventures and voyages. Josien Kapma will talk about how she traded in her Drascombe Lugger for her high performance Liteboat XP and introducing her book about her sailing adventures.

All boats in the Naturlijk Varen area are wooden, with the exception of Pride of the Fleet, a Drascombe once belonging to the late Hans van der Smissen, who sailed her 50 years ago from the UK to the Netherlands. Other boats exhibiting include a Chebacco catyawl from the board of Phil Bolger, a Caledonia Yawl from Iain Oughtred, a Haven 12 ½ by Joel White, a Phil Bolger Spartina, an Ebihen from François Vivier and the only professionally built wooden boat, Creizic, also by François Vivier.

The Traditional Boat Show will be held in Willemsoord, the old Navy Yard in Den Helder, Netherlands. For more information: http://www.traditioneleschepenbeurs.nl
